Technology In America

Decent Essays
Knowledge is the key to life without it people would just be walking around like a bunch of robots. If the people before us did not have books to teach them things the people of America would not have the technology that we all so enjoy today. The citizens of America could not live the great and luxuries lives that they all live in this day and age. They would not get to enjoy the car, fast food, and cell phones. These are all things that Americans use in their everyday life without even thinking about what they are doing, how they are taking advantage of our nation, and the get technology that we to utilize because a percentage of Americas reads books. If we did not have book someone could not have read them and expanded their imaginations

Ray Bradbury wrote about a society that revolved around the idea of people not thinking for themselves and dismissing the use of books. Books are more than just a means of passing time, books allow people to enhance and facilitate their own feeling and opinions on their views in life. Fiction and as well as nonfiction books give people the opportunity to choose a side that they believe in and can connect with. There are many paths to choose from which lead to different outcomes good or bad, but people are born with the right to choose which path they want to pursue. If someone only knows of one path to go, they have no other choice but to pick that one path that has been presented to them.…

In the last century and a half, technological advancements have transformed American life at an unprecedented rate. The most significant effect these technologies have had on the U.S., and the rest of the world, is an increase of opportunity and influence. While technological achievements are often remembered for their improvements to American and global life, these same innovations have a history of bringing about a proportional amount of detriment to the world, although this comparable shift in scale often goes unnoticed. For instance, where medicines and vaccinations have become more refined and accessible, weaponized diseases and synthetic toxins have seen similar growth in their efficiency and availability. Understanding this technologically…

Technology has negatively changed the American food supply as well as our diets over the past 50 years. Technology is always improving to make make our lives easier by creating machines to do things for us. For example, microwaves they heat up our foods in a matter of a few minutes. Today almost everyone in the American household owns a microwave in their home. Shames asserts that Americans have been influenced by the frontier belief “that America would keep on booming” (para. 9). I feel that this belief continues to be influential into the twenty-first century. People may not be realized how the circumstances are changing around them, but if they compare between the past and the present, it is really easy to know many things have been changing and improving. People have been willing to seek more valuable and convenient things in life even in the past, and there are many elements that would last to improve for a long time, especially various types of technology. Since there are many kinds of technology that have been improved in America, such as in the medical field or the mechanical engineering,…

Technology in America was not wanted for a very long time by the Republicans, but because the times changed and people needed them, new technological advances started pouring in from different places in the world, especially Britain. Immigrants who came to America brought their ideas with them and developed many inventions in their time there. The influx of new advances from the outside world made many Americans also come out with their own inventions and ideas. A cause of new technology was the invention of Eli Whitney’s Cotton Gin, a machine used to separate seeds from the cotton. This made cotton planting much more profitable and popular especially in the South.…

There is nothing that comes close to reading a great book; the way it opens the mind to imagine, question, and understand particular information. Although many books display valid points and messages, it is understandable why some people or parents become offended by certain topics or specific parts of the book, because of their personal viewpoints and beliefs. However, this should not give anyone the liberty to censor books. What else will you hide from adolescents by censoring books? Banning a book indicates banning education and ideas.…

The evolution of technology starting in the 1800s brought a significant social and cultural change. With this, there was a growth in the establishments of cities, crop cultivation and the spread of populations. One of the main driving forces for the emergence of technology was the need for innovations and the urgent development of tools to solve daily problems. For instance, Dr. John Gorrie discovered that a tropical disease such as malaria was favored in hot and humid weather and in order to reduce its incidence, he decided to blow fans over blocks of ice to cool the air. Back in the 1800s, air conditioning systems did not exist but with the recent discoveries in chemistry about how compressed gasses absorb heat from the surroundings when they expand, he was able to develop and construct a steam engine giving rise to the first air conditioner.…
