Technology Has Negatively Affected Our Society

Has our society changed for the better or worse? Well with the advancements in technology and transportation over the years it has affected the way our society looks and communicates. The world is rapidly changing for the worse as people are spreading hate and violence instead of dealing with our problems appropriately. As the world changes around us, many forget their view and how to communicate effectively.

First, our environment has been greatly affected by the technological advancements that have led to the industrial society, which has increased pollution and habitat destruction. According to Dorling Kindersley, "Industrial waste, sewage, and chemical pesticides from farms seep into streams and rivers. Cars, factories, and power plants burning fossil fuels give off fumes that pollute the air. Chemicals called CFCs (short for chlorofluorocarbons), used to make refrigerators and aerosol sprays, destroy the ozone layer, which protects us from harmful sunlight. Household and other waste buried underground pollutes the land." This shows that the advancements in technology and transportation in our society have negatively affected our environment. Over the years, technology such as phones and computers have replaced the way we communicate with others. Hayley Eastman states "Email, texting, Facebook and Twitter are just a few examples of mediums that have diminished verbal communication. Verbal communication has decreased dramatically from just 20 years ago, when most of the technology used today did not even exist."
