Tech Essay Does technology bring us together or separate us people apart? Technology is a big part of our daily life. Especially in the United States. Where ninety percent of American have access to technology. Many would argue that it brings us together. Then others would argue the opposite. Like Marie Winn argues in her article “Television: The Plug-In Drug” that technology simply separates us apart. Especially families get separated and do less interactions with each other. After reading stories like “Marionettes Inc.”,”There Will Come Soft Rains”, and “The Veldt” that support Winn’s argument, I personally agree technology does separate people apart.
Advanced technology such as robots could separate us apart. Like in the story “Marionettes Inc.” which about two men who want to separate from their wives because they don’t love them anymore. For one of the men he wanted to go to vocation so he made a clone robot for himself. In the story it states “Is this your twin brother? I never knew ‘no, no’. Said Brailing quietly.” This is where the two men were talking about the new clone the man named Brailing bought. Then the clone robot realized what was going on with Brailing and his wife, so he decided to kill Brailing by locking into a metal box. For the other man named, Smith, it did not go so good either.
