With the birth of the internet came the birth of a generation never knowing life without the world in their hands. Although some live up to the stereotype that technology distracts from responsibilities, most millennials are actually responsible. Ever since the evolution of arcade games into handheld devices and gaming consoles, new algorithms in video games pose a “challenge [to] mental dexterity”, erase the myth that video games only help with hand eye coordination (Johnson). We have been able to develop better thinking and problem solving skills, and learn to manage our time and strategize under the pressure of time thanks to franchises such as Call of Duty, The Sims, and Mario. There are also games that become relevant in real world situations, such as Minecraft, a sandbox game that teaches coding and architecture as well as strategy to survive in a cubic world. These are core skills for STEM based careers, a highly sought out profession in the modern era.
Ultimately, millennials are more capable of greatness than the older generations believe. Thanks to our blessings and gifts, we have become anything but the “dumbest generation”; we have become a force to be reckoned
