Cyberbullying is one of the most dangerous ways technology is impacting teenager’s lives. It can lead to depression, anxiety, and even suicide. In the case of Amanda Todd, it lead to all three. Obesity and online scams are all being, in a way, promoted by technology. Think about it, when you get home what do you; Watch TV, check social media, play some computer game, or even work on this project? These are all things that we sit down to do when before the technological age kids would be running around outside or playing with their friends. While there are health drawbacks there are also serious safety risks as well. In the article, “Your Phone Could Ruin Your Life” by Kristen Lewis, it states, "Christina stepped into the crosswalk and was struck by a car. She later died at the hospital. Then there was the 16-year-old who walked into a telephone pole with such force that he suffered a concussion. In Ohio, a 14-year-old boy was walking across a bridge when he fell off, plummeting 8 feet into a rocky ditch... It was a smartphone". This just shows a few cases where teenagers have died or suffered serious injures, all at the hands of smartphones. They were not paying attention to their surroundings and this makes them distracted causing death and injuries. The opposing side may claim that there was medical technology used to save some if the teens lives, but nothing wouldn't have had to have medical attention if it wasn't for their smartphones. Christina, one of the girls from the quote above, was killed by a texting driver and the doctors at the hospital used technology to try to save her life and obviously it didn't work. It is very unfortunate that people pass away from things like this. Imagine how her family and friends must have felt when they learned the cause of
