Technology is viewed in a good or bad way. Some people think that technology is powering a new “easier” lifestyle and is beneficial in several aspects. While other say that on the contrary, it is disrupting the way we think and communicate. This mostly relates to the digital immigrants as the author Hanna Rosin describes that they are struggling to understand the new innovation of the technology movement. It is an inevitable change as the new age of technology is starting to take over and it all starts at a small age. Their parents seem to always carry it around and do not let them touch it. They learn from what they see so if a parent could use such a device why are they being restricted in using it, is their natural assumption. Of course not all games they play on the device will be “educational”. Most of the time they will be playing something like the Toca Tea Party as this game gives a child the freedom to make a mess, eat whatever they want, and most of all play by their own rules. The author Rosin was surprised by the remark of Jeffrey who stated “Is running around on the lawn educational? Every part of a child’s life can’t be held up to that standard”(Rosin 10). A child learns by touching, falling, tasting, and seeing the actions of others to later interpret them. After all, too much of something good can potentially become an addiction. Later in their teenage or early adulthood they can come to a point in which social media becomes a problem. The little child that was once glued to the screen of their tablet playing a game is now over sharing information on social media. From a small age that is what they known of as their tablet being in integral part of their life in which they communicate. At this point “that the little devices most of us carry around are so powerful that they change not only what we do, but also who we are” states the author Sherry Turkle. It is affecting the way that they communicate on a face-to-face basis in which we no longer do. I see this problem occurring now with my generation as it makes us insensitive to other people emotions. We are having trouble with interpersonal communications of simply just having a conversation with an unknown stranger. Of course it is much easier to pick up a phone and look through Facebook or reply to messages. A person can avoid all eye contact, rejection, and awkward situations by a simple text
