FGCU prides itself on employing technology in and out of the classroom in order to further student success. One of the school’s founding principles states: “The University employs information technology in creative, experimental, and practical ways for delivery of instruction, for administrative and information management, and for student access and support.” I think that our university uses technology in innovative ways help students academically while, concurrently, still has much to improve on. This paper will review both successes and short comings of this goal. (Florida Gulf Coast University)

We use an app called TopHat, the question would be posted on both the board and on the laptop that you have brought to class and you are timed to right a response and when you submit it, it will be posted onto the board for the rest of the class to see. A more universal way for teachers to use technology to present information is by using a PowerPoint they created or found online. Technology isn’t only used as a way to teach and show information for in person classes, but also online or flipped classes are made possible through online lectures and assignments. I am lucky enough to have both an online class which is my Composition II class, and my flipped class is Pre-Calc. A flipped class is when you learn a lesson before the assigned in class time and take notes on videos that your teacher posts on canvas, and then when you get to class you work on assignments that are based on the videos you watched. At FGCU it is very effortless to get in contact with your professors because of technology. Communication is very important between student and teacher, for instance if you only meet for class on Tuesdays and the rest of the week you are supposed to be submitting assignments for the class
