Technology's Effect On Children And The Future Generation

Many Americans use some sort of technology throughout their lifetime in which many of them are starting off very young. I feel like we should be doing something about it because we want our kids and the future generation to impact others and I feel like this could lead society as a whole to be selfish and ultimately not have compassion for others around us. In 2016 about 78% of the U.S population had a 5% growth in having social media. That is about 1.96 bilion people and it is growing everyday. Statistics show that in the next year alone it would grow to 2.5 bilion users. Children are growing up on it, parents and grandparents are also becoming more aware and as some people say “text sabby” and are adapting to change.Children are the future …show more content…
Sherry Turkle said that “she met a young woman named Ellen and she would use Skype to communicate with her grandmother.” Allowed her to communicate from Paris to Philadelphia (pg.190-194, The Blair Reader). In which we are able to see that it isn’t always bad but that these apps can help bring people from around the world together.
Different forms of social media such as Skype and Facebook allow for people to communicate with a touch of a button and free of charge. Facebook and Skype are known worldwide because these are apps in which people can download for free and have easy access no matter what language is the user. I have nothing against it because social media and technology is beneficial because different communities are using it; such as scientists, entrepreneurs, military personnel and it is saving more lives as it gets better and better do to the enhancements they are making and improving. Ultimately it is up to the individual and their parents to research and find out more if it is for the better to be pre-exposed at a young age or
