How Cell Phones Have Changed American Society

Improved Essays
The first mobile phone was released by Motorola. Motorola was the first company to make a handheld mobile phone. Even though this phone was very big, it started something very monumental. The first mobile phone was twenty three centimeters long and 4.45 centimeters wide. This mobile phone only allowed you to talk for only thirty minutes, and took ten hours to recharge. In this generation that sounds insane, but back in the 1970’s it was the best thing that was made and was very efficient. Obviously it would be very hard to fix this device in your pocket, but it was still immensely demanded. In 1973, Martin Cooper made the first mobile phone and was profoundly satisfied with the product. Because of Martin Cooper, our world today has changed …show more content…
Kids just do not know how to be kids anymore. Humans do not know how to be humans anymore. Mobile devices have changed our society drastically. Mobile phones have also changed American society by taking away our view of the world. Our heads are constantly down, and never looking up to see the world. We don’t notice because we are so distracted by our tiny bright little screens. We are all probably missing out on so much scenery in the world, but we don’t know because of the tiny little screen. The world is so beautiful, but we simply don’t care anymore. Why look up if you can just go on Google images and look it up anyway. We have location services to tell people where we are. We have Facebook and Twitter to share our surroundings without even looking up at it. With this generation today, status updates and tweets are everything. You get more Facebook friends and followers by sharing things and updating your life in one little app. We don’t even know how to communicate …show more content…
We don’t know how to talk without typing it with our thumbs first. Communication has gone down fifty seven percent since mobile phones started circling around the globe. Phones have changed American Society inadequately and vigorously. Even though mobile phones have drastically changed our world to its worse, it also changed our world to its best. Before the first mobile phone was invented, it was very hard to get to someone or quickly communicate with someone. Now that we have phones, we can contact someone with just a couple clicks. Even if they do not answer, we have voicemail which was also an amazing invention. Voicemail was invented in the late 70’s and was used to exchange voice messages back and forth. In September 2012, reports concluded that voicemail messages declines by eight percent. Mobile phones are also advantages in many ways. Even though Wi-Fi is a big addition, we can still have internet access anywhere. Where ever we are, as long as we have signal, we can look up anything anywhere. It might sound crazy, but it could also save a life. If you are in trouble or hurt, you can look it up and figure out what to do right then and there. Another advantage is the “All-in-One”
