Ever since Bill Hewlett and David Packard established Hewlett-Packard in 1939, the industry of technology has advanced rapidly and does not show signs of slowing down any time soon. The technology industry is constantly growing, providing innovative and helpful ways to accomplish various tasks. New technology is very helpful, however, it is only beneficial if used for the right reasons. For example, a company by the name of NGI (Next Generation Identification) has a system that uses scanners and a state-of-the-art biometric identification system, to determine a person’s identity within seconds. Although this may sound advantageous, people can argue that this is an invasion of privacy. Even though technology can be manipulated negatively, technology simplifies life because it saves people time, advances the way people live, and creates continuous innovations and modernizations.
When Maxwell Smart first whipped out his shoe phone in 1965, it was seen as an act of authentic movie magic. Back in the mid to late 1900s, everyone had the same perception of the future. It was envisioned that the future would provide talking robots (Siri), computerized pocket-sized dictionaries (smartphones), hovering devices (drones), and much more.
