Technology is defined in the dictionary as the use of science in industry, engineering, etc., to invent useful things or to solve problems or a machine, piece of equipment, method, ect, that is created by technology. This means technical knowledge and technical machines are resources that can potentially enhance many aspects of our lives, to include education. In the academic world technology is no stranger. Teaching aids such computers, projectors, internet, microteaching and other media devices are used to facilitate and enhance learning for the students and also make the work of the teachers and instructors easy (Drijvers et al. 226). The question as to whether technology enhances academics has been asked by several stakeholders in the education sector in many parts of the world. However, the fact remains that technology truly enhances academics through making it easy for students to access information, giving students and their teachers …show more content…
Technological teaching aids come in handy for teachers to ensure maximum involvement of the students in classroom which enhances learning. In situations where teachers use internet based blackboards it encourages the student to share different ideas concerning various subjects which in turn enhances their learning and gives them a platform that enables them, to learn from each other and correct each other where possible (Lee et al. 79). Furthermore, it has been realized through research that students become more active in class when their teachers engage them in handling various technological devices that are used to illustrate certain aspects in classrooms (Howard, Hubbell & Kuhn). Student involvement is always at the top priority for any teacher, technology comes in handy for teachers and helps them to achieve their teaching and learning objectives through increasing the learner involvement in their
