Unit 4 Assignment Everywhere you look there is technology. Technology is in our homes, schools, working environments, in buses, cars, planes, etc. Technology helps us in amazing ways such as being able to use google to search for answers to questions, skype to chat with friends, and being able to take pictures with a webcam. Technology also works to serve a plethora of entertainment opportunities. While technology is important, there are some major drawbacks to it especially where children are concerned. According to Reed Snyder “The effects of technology can be serious; from children not making it outside to ADD and ADHD. Most children spend more time in front of a television than they do playing outside with friends.” Snyder, R (2011) Because children are so …show more content…
Spending time as a family using technology in a fun creative way is good. Families can play games like angry birds to increase hand eye coordination, and Minecraft which gets our minds thinking. My son loves Minecraft and it’s simply amazing what he can do with this game. He has ADHD and Minecraft grabs his attention. He has already come to me and asked about building mods for the game! (He’s only 7) Technology helps bring families together by being able to communicate through apps like Facebook and skype. While there are many positives to technology unfortunately the bad outweighs the good especially in children. This is why a crucial plan of action is needed.
After examining the thesis statement and looking at everything that is presented above this section it is clear that my thesis presents a claim of policy, and value. Here are the reasons my claim pertains to both.
Policy-My thesis mentions an issue that needs to be resolved. The issue is that technology time needs to be less often and monitored by parents. There is a plan of action to reduce the times to two 90 or 45 minute sessions a
