Technology is playing more and more of a role in our daily lives with each passing year. It is taking us in different directions, good and bad. Although it can be helpful in setting reminders and helping us connect with friends and family members around the world, it can also be problematic. It is replacing much of our verbal conversation, worsening our attention spans, and slowly replacing man as the person we go to confide in. I think technology is taking us in multiple directions. Technology is making people less independent. For example, people put everything in their phones. People put reminders in their Google Calendars to remind them of upcoming doctor’s appointments, business meetings, parties, and tests. Facebook reminds you of your friends’ birthdays and events that people have invited you to attend. Technology is also making people less conversational. As the 50-year-old businessman told the speaker, “I’m the one who doesn’t want to be interrupted. I think I should want to, but actually I’d rather just do things on my …show more content…
This can’t be done verbally, as you don’t always have long periods of time to think and perfect how you phrase something, or take back what you say. This leads some people to think that text conversations are easier than verbal ones. Technology is also making us more connected.
