Educational technology has slowly been integrated into classrooms and schools over the course of the last couple decade. Despite some people’s belief that technology is detrimental to a child’s education, it is evident that technology has advantageously contributed to the education system by creating opportunities for parents, teachers, and students to connect with each other and the educational program. A technological controversial today is technology’s usage in education. Christine Olmstead claims “students who have parents who are actively involved in their education have higher grades and test scores, enroll in higher-level programs, graduate from high school, and go on to postsecondary education” (28). To increase their students’ likelihood of success in the future, schools look for ways to increase parents connection to the school system. By utilizing websites, emails, and parent portals, parents can “keep in touch with the school...access students’ courses, homework assignments, grades, and attendance...[and] directly communicate with teachers” (28-29). The many opportunities provided by technology allows the working parents to be apart of their child’s education, despite their busy schedule. Teachers and Parents alike agree the opportunities technology provides are the deciding factor of the parents ' connection to their child’s school. Educational Technology also increases opportunities for teachers to expand on their teaching methods within the classroom.…
