Technology dependency affects all of society because it has such a powerful hold on everyone. Technology has affected human social interaction ever since social media and instant messaging became popular. In the article, Technology Addiction: The Effects On Society the author Harri Marshall states, “Resisting Facebook and texting compares with turning down a martini for an alcoholic” (Marshall). Marshall is saying that our society can not stop, and is addicted to using social media and texting. This results in a diminished capacity to converse face to face with someone. With the increasing use of technology, our society is becoming progressively more distracted.
