There are many people who suggest that the traditional way of teaching and learning is the only effective way. Today’s technology has evolved radically, the world has come “to open up”, as Don Tapscott suggests, and knowing how to take full advantage of technology is a necessity. All future jobs are based on immediate communication and computer skills. One needs to know how to use the computer in order to be well informed about the latest news and updates of his field. As the anthropologist Amber Case suggests, over the last decade the “net generation” of kids -a whole new species which knows how to function naturally with technology- has emerged. Those kids are digital natives, which means that including technology in education is the only way to make them learn in an effective way as well as be productive. Becoming familiar with technological tools from an early age is very important for every student in order to be able to reciprocate to the reality of the future world. In conclusion, technology in education is a great opportunity rather than a distraction. Students are provided with many different sources of knowledge, are able to keep up in class without any obstacles and even prepare themselves in a better way for their future careers.
