Techniques Used In Odysseus Of Homer's Odyssey

The story progresses chronologically, but includes many flashbacks in the form of storytelling. An example would be Book Nine: ‘The Cyclops’. That whole chapter is a flashback of Odysseus’ struggles on an island full of Cyclopes, one in particular called, Polyphemos. The next example is Book Ten: ‘Circe’ which continues on from chapter nines story. Another example would be in Book Three: ‘Telemachus with Nestor’ when Nestor tells Telemachus the story of Agamemnon’s murder. My third example is in Book Four: ‘Menelaus and Helen’ when Meneaus tells his story of being stuck on the island Pharos. My last two examples would be Book 11 and 12, which is Odysseus tell King Alcinous and company about his years from troy to that present moment which
