The story progresses chronologically, but includes many flashbacks in the form of storytelling. An example would be Book Nine: ‘The Cyclops’. That whole chapter is a flashback of Odysseus’ struggles on an island full of Cyclopes, one in particular called, Polyphemos. The next example is Book Ten: ‘Circe’ which continues on from chapter nines story. Another example would be in Book Three: ‘Telemachus with Nestor’ when Nestor tells Telemachus the story of Agamemnon’s murder. My third example is in Book Four: ‘Menelaus and Helen’ when Meneaus tells his story of being stuck on the island Pharos.
