The editing assignment was very interesting that. Our group’s goal was to make the edit as similar as possible to the original. I thought it would be the easiest way to edit, but it turned out to be much harder to do. Because of our choice, we had to constantly replay and refer to the clip and the script. I do feel like it was a shame that we did not get to use the master shot, and I think we can do a lot more if we choose to use the master shot.…

In the fight scene at the Scottish castle, crew members held fishing wires attached to each foam stone and pulled them when the character hit them, revealing a matte painted backdrop. In theory, this method sounds efficient, however in the film it is highly unrealistic: “The stones flying around the combatants look so fake you can actually feel the Styrofoam. ”(Taylor, 2016). When an immortals head is cut off in the film, stop motion is used quite obviously to switch out the character for a dummy, and rather than using CGI to add sparks when swords hit each other, the actors had car batteries strapped to them so the effect was more real. In a modern day production, it would be expected that many of these scenes will have incorporated computer generated effects in modern versions (Hoad, 2016).…

One of the first accounts of Brutalism was given by architectural critic Reyner Banham in his seminal essay titled New Brutalism published in the Architectural Review in 1955, Banham’s conception of New Brutalism was both a movement in the sense of futurism and a style. Banham’s etymology of the term New Brutalism is clarified through his complex and contradictory explanation of Brutalism as both a movement and style. Banham did articulate clearly three underlying rules which are its core components: “1, Memorability as an Image; 2, Clear exhibition of Structure; and 3, Valuation of Materials ‘as found.’” “Remembering that an Image is what affects the emotions, that structure, in its fullest sense, is the relationship of parts, and that materials…

Often times iconic scenes in a movie will have amazing music, sound effects and vocals to tie the whole scene together, and with all of these, visuals are not really needed, they will only give a crystal clear image of what the director has already portrayed with sound. One example could be the shower scene in Psycho; if you turn off the screen and only listen to the sound; an almost crystal clear visual is made because you can hear what is actually going on. Another perfect example is the movie Jaws (1975). The iconic scene in the movie is when Brody finally kills the beast; with the music, the sound effects and the vocals combined, a feeling of suspense becomes apparent with the audience, as well as that of a sigh of relief once Bruce is…

As far as techniques, to make the film feel more genuine, jumps and shifts are created through editing. One scene that continued to happen was the actors use of stairs and tunnels. This made the film feel that it was more than just inside a frame because it gave the film levels and depth. The use of montage is used for instance when you see the character begin to go up the stairs and then there is a cut and he is already at the top of the staircase leaving. This is an aspect that also made the film seem so realistic because you as a person know what it is like to do such actions so it makes the audience easy to relate to Antonio’s…
