Although almost all the work assigned to us was vital to be an effective engineer in the industry, one of the assignments was more important than the others in improving our chances to even make our way into the industry. It was the work related to the résumé, specifically, skill set résumé. I chose this piece of technical writing over the rest because of its importance, especially in the modern world. A résumé is key to qualify for a wide range of opportunities including, but not limited to, jobs (including part-time jobs!), scholarships or even a highly-impacted club. Having chosen a job posting posted by the Boeing company, I realized that if I had chosen a chronological résumé, I would be interpreted as an inexperienced college kid. However, on choosing a skill set résumé, I would still be perceived as an inexperienced, yet ambitious college student with the right amount of soft skills that their job demands. Since people in the industry barely read the whole résumé, my skills placed closer to the top of the document would help catch the attention of the potential employer.
