The ability to be a team player is an attribute that many companies consider when hiring new team members. Having a proper team structure is essential to teamwork effectiveness and a company productivity. When deciding to proceed with an individual or a teamwork project managers must consider the complexity of the workload, skills needed to complete the work, and how quickly the company must achieve its objective. According to Robins and Judge, a work team is a group whose individual efforts result in performance that is greater than the sum of the individual inputs. In other words, are two or more individuals with different abilities and skills who comes together to achieve a common goal that would not be able to perform individually. Some team players, especially the ones who are part of larger groups, may feel that they are not being heard and that their ideas are not being considered. This situation can cause resentment and interpersonal conflict among team players making hard for them to express their ideas and trust each other. Another disadvantage of teamwork is social loafing which according to Robbins and Judge, is the tendency for individuals to expend less effort when working collectively than when working alone. In other words, is the trend of team players to take advantage of the fact that the work is being done collectively and not help the teammates because they know the work will get done no matter what. Team pressure is another teamwork disadvantage. Team players tend to feel pressured when they know that others are counting on their work, and skills which, in the long run, can cause high levels of stress and anxiety. Teamwork tends to be extremely time-consuming which can be considered another teamwork drawback because all the team players must listen to each others ideas and together come to an agreement that can be hard due to team players
