The first person I shadowed was Christine McPherson, who is the Executive Director of Bel Air Downtown Alliance. What I took away from shadowing Mrs. McPherson is that she manages the day-to-day operations of Bel Air Downtown Alliance. Her goal and the goal of the organization is to get people to invest in Bel Air’s neighborhoods. This generates more money for Bel Air and gets people to come out and support local businesses. When I was shadowing Christine, she has a lot of responsibility and her job can seem stressful. She is in charge and has to make sure that everything is happening smoothly. There were only two other people who work with her, so it is easier for her to get with them and communicate better, but she has to take on a lot of …show more content…
She has been the Marketing Coordinator for The Humane Society since November 2006. When I was shadowing her, I realized that it does not matter what someone’s exact title in a non-profit organization is because they take on many roles within the organization itself. So, when I first started shadowing Mrs. Long she was working on event planning for The Bow Wow Boogie which is happening May 4th. The Bow Wow Boogie is an annual event that gets people together and celebrates the accomplishments of The Humane Society. All the proceeds go to The Humane Society to benefit the homeless and neglected animals. Mrs. Long told me that since this event is so big that it takes a lot of effort to get every aspect of the event in place and being able to advertise it, so people know about it. The day quickly changed, though. A couple of homeless animals came in, a couple of surrendered animals, and then this one animal that was hurt very badly was brought in. Since this all happened within an hour Erin had to stop working on The Bow Wow Boogie and help her colleagues. All the homeless animals and surrendered pets that came in needing a place to be put and eventually get checked out by the Veterinarian, but their main propriety was getting the animal that was hurt badly seen by the Vet first. After all the craziness settled down I asked Erin if she gets interrupted from her work often. She told me that almost every day she comes into work she never gets done what she planned to. She told me that it is okay though because she loves her job, so it does not matter that she’s always

I have a 4.0 GPA and speak three languages, so students looking to join the IB program would see how a truly excellent student handles herself at school. In addition to this, showing another student around our school would definitely be no problem. A unique personal quality of mine would be that I am a serious dancer. EAs have standard job duties as well as job duties that are unique to the department in which they are assigned. As EAs, we all share the same job title, yet we are individual contributors rather than part of a team or function. Because EAs are ranked and rated against one another, those who have the most knowledge are reluctant to share information with others in order to preserve and protect their high-ranking status.…
