Proposed Team Objective: Over the course of the next 8 weeks, we will demonstrate our understanding of the course material through our submitted assignments. We are committed to respectfully collaborating with one another in a timely fashion and following through on commitments made.

Proposed Team Member Accountability: All team members will contribute equally on a weekly basis including ensuring all assignments are submitted timely, in accordance with the assignment instructions, and with minimal grammatical errors.

One person will capture and post meeting minutes. Those absent would be responsible to review the notes and provide their input within 24 hours of the call. Please note, should we agree to a standing call, I have a conference call number that could be used.

Proposed Team Deadlines / Time zone: In addition to our course deadlines, I would propose we institute individual milestones. For example, all individual assignments posted two days prior to the deadline (i.e. Tuesday by 11:59 p.m. ET). This would allow one day to synthesize the assignments and one final day for the team to preview the final consolidated file prior to its submission. All group milestones should be submitted based on ET. This will help avoid confusion and align with Liberty’s course schedule deadlines.

Proposed Group Submission Schedule: Given there are twelve assignments, we should each be responsible for two. I am open to assigning this on a per assignment basis. If everyone agrees, this approach may help divvy up the workload in such a way that team members should not feel as overloading during the initial four weeks. I am open to any order; however, I started with myself to avoid volunteering someone else to go first.

What is your team’s approach to completing the project? This project is difficult for anyone to complete in an online class setting such as this. However, this is not because of any task that is assigned for this project, but because this assignment forces us to learn to effectively communicate with each other to complete a common goal. We began communicating early this week regarding what we need to accomplish in order to complete this project, and we have come to a conclusion.…

Accountability, unity, and intentionality are fundamental elements of a successful team. All three of these elements are interdependent on each other, yet are significant on their own. For these elements to work, each member of a team must depend on each other’s contribution, but not rely on one member to do all the work. As well, an intentional goal must be set for all members to unify the same mentality. In my own experience with the Buckeye Twirl baton team, we fail to perform as a team and work as individuals.…

I faced the internal struggle of being a good group member and being a good student. I struggled with communicating the urgency of completing the project to the rest of the group and not annoying everyone on the group chat. In the end, this challenge was solved by my fellow group members completing (thankfully and barely) before the deadline. If I could do the project over I would be less passive aggressive and talk to my group members about completing the work together to get it done earlier. Looking past all of my complaints and challenges this group assignment proved to be helpful and educational.…

It is important from the outset of a project for roles within the team to be established. This is usually covered in the application and interview process, but should be covered with the entire team together for clarification purposes. While you don’t want to stifle members of the team who may have great ideas, it is also important that there are not “too many cooks in the kitchen.” Accountability is just a bigger word that means responsibility. If you have a task or part you have to do it becomes your responsibility and your teammates are counting on you to get it done or…

Some of the advantages of working collaboratively in an online community are more prominent than others. Asking questions and expressing ideas in writing opens the lines of communication (Garcia & Badia, 2014) allowing the entire group to have questions answered in writing which is beneficial to all parties, as it enables all people in the online community to have a better understanding of the subject at hand. The opinions and the point of view of others in the group facilitate co-constructing (O’Donnell, 2012). Co-constructing is a way in which individuals in groups contribute to a simple knowledge base in order to participate in the process of knowledge construction. Co-constructing with the online community empowers individuals by providing more…
