However, being a member of the business academy at Bergen County Academies teaches one more than how to generate profit; the experience opens your eyes to another way of interpreting the world. In sophomore year, I had the honor of competing with several other ABF students in Euro Challenge, a national competition where students formulate monetary policy recommendations based on the economic state of a nation in the Euro Area. Personal leadership / management style analysis During my first few weeks in the field experience course, I have noticed the complexity of leadership and management that is involved in the work field. Both, a leader and a manager are very important people in an organization. According to Collins (2001), managers and leaders “exist in different forms, roles and responsibilities”; as a result, Five Level Hierarchy exists, where level one has highly capable individuals, two is contributing team member, three is competent manager, four is an effective leader, and finally five is an executive. A great leader must be an effective communicator in order to lead a group of people in order to accomplish a goal or vision.…

Throughout this project, I have further developed many leadership competencies from personal learning to adaptability. I further developed these leadership competencies through constantly seeking feedback from my teammates about what I can do better and trying to become more adaptable to other people and not just focus on myself. I believe these leadership behaviors demonstrated emotional intelligence because I was being aware that my teammates had much more to offer than just their own personal work. They helped me generate ideas for my own work and seeking feedback from them and giving feedback made our group grow into a much better team. Also, I demonstrated emotional intelligence through being in control of my emotions when there were changes and managing that ambiguity.…
