As we grow we discover who we are as individuals and believe we know what we want to study or work in. Truth is, college students change their majors 2-3 times. Everyone thinks that we go to college to acquire skills for a specific job or career but, we go to college to become learners. You might think that Culinary Arts is just one type of career choice but it’s just a small window to different career paths. An executive chef is very different from another other type of chef. Their job is to make sure that their staff has what they need and are executing their jobs perfectly. Executive chefs carry the most responsibilities from inventory to budget control to developing new recipes. They make from $45,367 to $101,575 but they require at least 7 years of …show more content…
The education for this career is learned by doing and practicing than by sitting in classrooms and reading about it. That’s why I love this type of career. Being hands on gives me a different aspect of learning. I can learn to execute all the different skills and techniques by doing, and not by reading or writing how I will do it.
Different jobs acquire different years of education. I plan to travel to attend the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute. There I will achieve my associate’s degree in culinary Arts. I will get a little of everything, from pastries to management. “Those that wish to become more specialized often need advanced training to do so” (MyFootpath.com). Right now I only have thought out what I want to do for the first 2 years after college. I don’t want to think too ahead because what if in the end Culinary Arts isn’t what I thought it would be. For now my mind and heart is set on OCCI for the next 2

This will surely contribute to the progress of the world.
