I was able to develop a clearer view of Cadence’s skills and abilities from watching her fine and gross motor skills being used. I learned that Cadence’s gross motor skills were delayed for the first six months of her life. Honestly, I think she is doing great and she does not let anything stop her from interacting with her peers. I understand the difference in Cadences’ fine and gross motor skills compared to the others in class. Cadence enjoys running and skipping, but most of all enjoys engaging with her peers. Cadence is extremely cautious of everything around her, and will not do anything unless she’s comfortable. She is extremely social and makes friends quickly compared to the beginning of the semester when she was extremely discreet, but recently she has been talkative and outgoing. I continued to connect with the child and still establish relationships with others. Each child has good and bad days, some children in the afternoon class come in with tantrums, and this could be explained by the interference with their naptimes, however not too many children have these …show more content…
The lab didn’t just teach me about the way children develop skills but has taught me that there is always room for improvement. It taught me about the ways that children’s minds think and the skills they develop through play. I was able to observe a child one on one and get a sense of their learning development and where they stand. I was able to connect with many of the children and learn different types of teaching strategies through Mrs. Dana and Mrs. P. I enjoyed seeing that the children responded better to instructions when rhythm was added. I enjoyed being around the children and getting to know each one of them on an individual level.
