Considering the life and teachings of Jesus, there are many incredible truths and life lessons we can find that personally affect us, even 2000 years after his life. Jesus fulfilled many roles while he was on earth. He was an incredible teacher, and challenged the high religious officials of the time. His revolutionary teaching conflicted with the Jewish mindset of what a savior was. Most importantly, Jesus fulfilled the role of savior of all people. Jesus had a task given him by God, that only he could complete. Jesus was obedient to God the father and went to the cross to die and become the savior of all men. These men had an incredible knowledge of the scriptures and were held in extremely high regard by the Jewish people. Jews looked to the Pharisees as righteous men who were close to God, so when Jesus challenged them, it caused quite an uproar. Jesus’ teachings such as being born again, healing on the sabbath, and proclaiming himself as the son of God, were direct challenges to the teaching of the Pharisees. People had to decide whether to trust the highly-regarded Pharisees, or trust the miracles and revolutionary teachings of Jesus. Considering Jesus teachings and dealings with the Pharisees, it is incredible to see how so easily he silenced their rebukes. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”. Because Jesus was God’s perfect sacrifice, we can have a relationship with God himself. Jesus, through his death on the cross made a way for us to be forgiven, and given a new life in him. Understanding who Jesus is, and what he did for the world changes everything. If we believe in who he is, and what he has done for us, we can receive the salvation from sin and death that he paid for by his sacrifice. There is no condemnation for the sinner who believes, because God excepts Jesus’ work on the cross as payment for their sin.
