Teaching is about transmission of knowledge from teacher to student (Harmer, 2003:107). In line with Harmer, Suprijono (2012:12) states that teaching is a process of activity, sending and way of teaching.
From the definition above, it can be conclude that teaching is a process of transferring knowledge from the teacher to the students through some activity. The different activity in teaching process will give new experience for the students.
Junior High School Students are classify in as teenagers. As Nunan (1995) in Setiyadi (2006:181) said that teenagers are young adults whose ages range between twelve and eighteen or so; they are an age of transition; they are in between childhood and adult.

Narrative tells a fiction story. As Mark and Anderson ( 2003: 8) say that narrative is a piece of text which tells a story and, doing so, entertains or informs the reader or listener.
According to the new curriculum for Junior High School, narrative text is being taught in the eighth year. The basic competence is the students can use various kinds of language, i.e.: either written or verbal in smooth and accurate transactional and monologue texts especially on the form of recount, narrative, procedure, and descriptive.
The elements of narrative:
a. Function
There are some functions of narrative text, according to Maggot (2007:6) the social function of narrative text is to amuse or entertains the listener or reader ( by story which tells about real experience or complicated event and ways to resolve the problem). It is to entertain and instruct via reflection or experience (Hyland, 2007:29). As Hartono said that the function of narrative is to amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or various experience in different ways.
