Although a lot of the information I would be teaching may get be boring for me, there is so many creative ways to teach them the material. In my observation with the grade three class, the teacher used videos, games, PowerPoints, songs, and crafts to teach her students. With elementary, teachers must learn almost every subject and teach it well. At the high school level, depending on what kind of school you teach at, there is one subject you focus on. And if one day I decide I want to teach secondary students, I can go back to university and complete that as well. Another pro to teaching elementary is that you can see how the students are doing in each subject, and you get to know their strong suits and weaknesses as an individual. While the idea of teaching one subject to high school students seems attractive to some, teaching a variety of subjects at an easier level seems more like my style. Being in this education program has also taught me patience and the value of time. Observations gave a practical outlook on teaching in the sense that sometimes teachers work after work and don’t get paid. I resonated with this because on top of classes and outside of orientation to teaching, we had to do thirty hours of observations. In the workforce, the thirty hours could be the marking of tests and assignments on the weekend, or volunteering to be a supervisor in an extra curricular
