Personal Statement
Anebi Adoga, Jr., Spain, ETA
I am inspired to serve as an English Teaching Assistant in Spain by my love and appreciation of Spain, by my previous experiences as a teacher, by a desire to engage in dialogue with people who differ from me, and by a desire to pursue a career as a lawyer who will advocate for the less fortunate or a government professor who will help create and teach about policy’s that can help the most vulnerable in society. I love and appreciate Spain because throughout my academic career I have had the opportunity to read, analyze, and write about Spain’s history and culture, while in the process attaining the ability to communicate with Spanish speakers throughout the world. Now I want the opportunity to express my gratitude for the role that Spain has played in my education by teaching some of its children to communicate with English speakers throughout the world. In my previous experiences as a teacher, I have engaged in dialogue with people who are different from me, dialogue that has allowed me to teach them valuable skills while at the same time developing my own skills and learning valuable lessons myself. Out of my personal appreciation for Spain, I want to teach Spanish students valuable skills learning while personally learning valuable lessons from Spanish culture…
