Teacher Reflection

I believe teachers can address students differences by being open to discussions in the classroom about each others differences. Also as a teacher it is important to accept each students differences and work with them. My beliefs have been shaped by EDCI 205. In class we did an activity where we read a paragraph and figured out if the teacher 's action was right or wrong. My group had a scenario that a teacher told two students to take off their scarfs from their head because the other students were not wearing them and it was distracting other students. He was rude to the students and it was offensive to the students ' culture. In my group, we discussed ways that we would approach this situation. We concluded that we would respect their culture …show more content…
Also by having a trusting relationship with students and addressing any problems that occur in the classroom. These beliefs have been shaped by the experiences in a preschool classroom and my TIP experience in the Chicago Public Schools. When I walked into both of the classrooms, the rooms were put into groups of four and all the students had their own cubby to put their stuff in. Each student also had their own name tag on their desk. I think that this makes the students feel more comfortable because they get their own area where they can put their belongs. There were also colorful posters and pictures all over the room, which I think makes the environment more friendly and approachable. Having an organized classroom will make the learning community more effective because the class will be run smoothly and the students will stay …show more content…
I believe in students working together and using different types of learning styles. I want a classroom where my students can collaborate, have class discussions, and problem-solve. Pragmatism is about students learning through experience and is student-centered, while the teacher is their as a guide. The world and society is also involved in this way of learning, which helps students prepared for real world experiences. The reason that my philosophy also pertains to Existentialism is because in this philosophical perspective it is centered also around the students and the students learn to problem-solve. This helps the students become independent learners and learning to make their own decisions. I want my students to feel like they are involved in their society and are capable of making change in their own

I encourage my students to participate in the classroom and told him not to be shy because I was also once and EL L student. I found out that giving positive feedback will encourage them and give them more confidence which helps them communicate a lot better. We also taught them social courtesies like manners and politeness, because different cultures sometimes tend to have different courtesies. Taught them how to express their emotions and thoughts, what is appropriate to talk about and what is not. Moving to a new place results in culture shock so these rules had to be taught.…

The primary classroom is an environment which is constantly being debated and changed. The one constant throughout my teaching career has been the diversity of the students academically, socially, and economically. It is important each student feels they contribute to the conversation, and their input is valued and respected. When I meet with children in a small group, we not only talk about the skill we are trying to master, but we take time to discuss important or not so important events in their lives.…

When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…

Reflection on Book Title “The Leader, The Teacher & You” I share the same sentiment with the author that “Walk the ground!” is essential for a leader to earn respect from the ground. Walking the ground also requires social competency skills such as being able to “communicate to influence” and having “interpersonal effectiveness”. In future, I will apply this principle of “Walk the ground!” by constantly engaging my superiors, peers and subordinates for their guidance and opinions through cohesion and feedback sessions on how various tasks can be done more effectively and efficiently. Through these sessions, I will seek to understand their concerns and challenges in their area of work.…
