Educational Goals And Philosophy

What makes a good teacher is a tenderhearted person who enjoys teaching students and will do anything to help their students. What makes a great teacher is a person who has a passion to teach students and will get down and dirty with their students. A great teacher also knows their teaching philosophy; in which mine is essentialism. All teachers should know their teaching goals for a few reasons. First they need to know who they are before they can teach anyone anything. They also need to know what made them that way, and a multitude of other things. I analyzed myself and I actually discovered a lot about my teaching philosophy and myself.
According to education.com an essentialism is “a teacher-centered philosophy that stresses rigorous

For example, I have a third grade class. I tell my students “Ok class, today well be going over the basic functions on a Chromebook laptop.” I would then issue each of my students a Chromebook and begin to explain the functions on the smart board in my classroom. Then I would have a one or two of my students show me what I just taught them. If they understood, I would then go one with my lesson. If a student had a hard time I would bring them over and give them special attention so that they to could be up to par with the rest of their calls. I believe my role in my classroom is to be nurturing to the ones with out a father, be a role model to the ones that are lost, be a discipliner to the ones who need it most and a informer to the …show more content…
Ms. Brown has shown me some pretty cool thing in the short period I have observed her class. One thing I know I would use is an app called ClassDojo. ClassDojo is an app where the teacher keeps track of her class behavior. The teacher can give either positive or negative feedback through the app. The cool part about is that the parent and even the student get to check it. The teacher can also share photos of the students participating in school activities or classwork or even at recess. I would use Ms. Brown’s techniques of “Oh class, oh yes” method to keep them quiet. This way of keeping the call quiet is part of “Whole Brain Teaching”. I most definitely am using this as my teaching style. Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) is an education reform method. It makes the children actually listen to what is being said by the teacher. They are having fun and learning. That is what makes a good Essentialism teacher to me.
The goals that I would set from my students would be to make sure they gave it their all. Even if they do not understand, I would make sure they remain calm while we figure it out. I would also not want any of my students to make fun of each other. When I was observer the other day, a student did not know the answer and another student laughed at him. Ms. Brown was furious, and she gave him a negative Dojo. She immediately told him not to laugh at him. I would make sure they all help each other

Listening to speakers- When someone in the class is speaking, teacher, fellow student, or guest, everyone must be respectfully listening. Students will listen to the teacher/speaker with full attention; no talking, moving about the classroom, or whispering. Ask permission to speak by raising your hand and waiting quietly to be called on. After instruction, students should make sure they understand the concept, if not, they should ask questions. Encourage questioning in the class.…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

The world is constantly changing around us, so why shouldn’t we change with it? This is the mentality of progressives; progressives are people who believe that nature is constantly changing and if that’s happening what’s to keep knowledge from doing the same? Knowledge is what helps people get through life and what allows people to be successful at whatever they strive for, after all the more people know the more successful they are. Progressives view the mind as something that is there to help guide them trough difficulties, so that people know what decisions to take when the situation arises. While reading about the four philosophies’ I couldn’t help but relate so much to progressives and in this essay I will explain why I believe that about…

PERSONAL ELL PHILOSOPHY OVERALL PHILOSOPHY Education is a very important aspect in a student’s life. I always tell myself that the children are our future, and as an educator it is our job to teach them well and have them actually want to learn. As an educator it’s important to have a good influence on my students making sure they understand what I am teaching and applying it to their everyday life, especially my English language learners it’s important that when I planning or teaching a lesson make accommodations for them and actually take the time to spend with them individually.…

With this in mind, I would be sure to speak slowly and give students appropriate time to process information. Part of giving students time to process means not trying to interpret their answers or contributions to discussions, but allowing them to fully express their thoughts without outside input. Building off students’ responses is another way I would utilize verbal scaffolding; by repeating students’ answers and adding additional essential information in a “think aloud” fashion, I would model the full correct answer and pronunciation while also acknowledging students’ contributions to the class. Procedural scaffolding is included in the various instructional frameworks incorporated in this lesson, including explicit teaching, modeling, and independent…

Looking around, I see twelve desks with only half as many students sitting at them. Going into this clinical experience, I expected fewer students than in a typical class as I was assigned to a special education classroom. Students in Ms. Olson’s classroom had IEPs, mainly for having one or more behavioral disorders. As with any new person coming into a class, the students were quite hesitant to interact to me, and so they were for my first couple of visits, but eventually I became a normal sight within the class. The area in which the school is located, and the surrounding community, is quite diverse; as such I was expecting the same from the makeup of students within the class I did my clinical in…

Essentialism created by William Bagley is very popular in schools today. It is closely related to perennialism which focuses on the same idea of teaching students to think rigorously but learning through reading Great Books. Progressivism starts to shift into the student-centered philosophies in which these teachers believe that kids learn through real-world experience. They prefer field trips and group projects much like the social reconstructionist. Existentialism allows students to be almost completely in charge of what they are learning.…

It was something I did not plan for. For instance in the listening micro lesson, some of them asked questions or asked me to rewind the audio file while they were supposed to be listening to it and do not disturb their colleagues. I have learned that I have to put some rules from the beginning of the session. For instance, I should tell students to write down their questions and wait till the end of the audio file. Besides, these like-real situations helped me to be more comfortable standing up in front of…
