The teacher did an excellent job in this area; however there were some elements that I found somewhat ineffective or troublesome. The classroom set up, and her teaching zone, were not optimal for maintaining proximity to students or for classroom monitoring. Her Smartboard and Elmo document camera were set up to operate from her desk. She sat at her desk for most of the lesson, which was a considerable distance from the student’s tables. Additionally, the way the desk was positioned put her back to almost half of the class. Although her classroom disposition was pleasant and respectful, she could not easily make eye contact or even visually acknowledge many of the students. I am already a teacher of record; however it is at the middle school level. Being able to observe how teachers in multi-subject classrooms manage their time and students was invaluable. The ability to integrate cross curriculum lesson plans allowed them to “sprinkle” knowledge of all their subjects throughout the entire day. I also see the necessity of incorporating activities that include elements for all learning styles. What works for one student may not work for another, and understanding how each student learns must be what drives the lesson plans. I have taken many notes, and discussed with the teachers that I hope to be placed with about the learning styles I need to accommodate, as well as gained a lot of direction on what will be successful in their
