“From country to pop”

One of my favorite artist, Taylor Swift, has paved the way from original country music to country with a touch of pop. This young artist has achieved so much in her years as an artist, than some can’t even dream about accomplishing. I like Taylor Swift because even though she is known for writing break up songs and making them into top chart records, her many awards show how truly talented she is. I first discovered her in the radio back in 2008 when I heard “Our Song” and “Tear Drops on My Guitar”. These two singles were on the radio at least three times a day, and since me and her are close in age, I just thought she was so talented. In this essay I will write about her early life, her career, and her achievements/accomplishments. Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. One fun fact is that she was named after James Taylor, an artist known for rock and roll. James Taylor also had songs in other genres such as country, pop, soft rock and blues. At the early age of only 9 years old, Taylor Swift became interested musical theater and also traveled to Broadway for vocal and acting lessons. Taylor Swift became of the first signings of Big Machine Records and was introduced to the country music business. She has made several TV appearances and even played a role in two films: “Valentine’s Day” and “The Giver.” She is a singer, a song writer, an actress, and a philanthropist. Swift has 5 music albums and is working on more. She has been honored with the Taylor Swift Award by the BMI Pop Awards, this is the second time they have awarded someone with their name.
