An Analysis of Historical Divides: Jane Addams and Mary Richmond As a founder of social work, Jane Addams embraced social and economic rights in addition to social change for everyone (Anders, & da Silveira Nunes Dinis, 2015). Her work through Hull-House revealed her collaboration of culture, social, and political functions (Anders, & da Silveira Nunes Dinis, 2015). As an example, she was an advocate for women issues, believed in the removal of racisms and sexism globally, assisted with the provision of food distribution, jobs, and education through social justice (Anders, & da Silveira Nunes Dinis, 2015). Clearly, we see a demonstration of Addams being consistent with the macro practitioner with community interventions inclusive of management,…

Role Play Reflection Before doing the video, I became somewhat anxious at the thought of being on camera; knowing that I was going to be evaluated did not help my anxiety at all. After all, I am an introvert; even at that I love listening to people talk about their life’s experiences, and love to help them resolve their issues whenever possible. This is one reason I am looking forward to learning more about the social work field. I have always been careful at how much advice I offer a person; even more so now, after this class, because I recognize that if a worker is not prepared to help in the proper way she can do more harm than good to all the parties involved in the process. I am also aware that I am a social work student, and that my…

Introduction Child welfare is facing rapid transitions and changes both in Ontario and in Canada at large. The arena is currently in need of developing a healthy relationship between the worker, the client, family and the community the client belongs to (Platt, 2008). In social work with children, especially in the child welfare setting, client engagement is one of the crucial challenges. In all social work, practice based on a relationship is considered important (Howe, 2009). When interacting with the client, the manner of engagement and its dynamics focusing an alteration is vital because the outcome is the welfare of the child (Gladstone, Dumbrill, Leslie, Koster, Young, & Ismaila 2012).…
