Taunt Me Narrative

Improved Essays
It taunts me from afar, haunting the beast inside of me that yearns for perfection. As I zero my eyes in on it, I know that I will be plagued with annoyance, perplexed at how no one seems to notice this but me. I find myself shaking my leg, trying to think of anything other than the one thing I want so badly to fix. Although a trivial matter, I cannot keep my attention span from wavering between the assignment at hand and the one thing that fills my heart with indignation. Even I am amazed at the copious amounts of dread and anguish that fill me when a teacher doesn’t fully erase the board, leaving one mark to taunt me for the rest of the period.

These rambunctious students had just came back from lunch and were still phasing to settling down for their lesson. She had made the boards setup on the wall so that each student can just run up and connect a puzzle piece, in which case is one letter to help spell the word out, the next student would follow behind, completing another word and eventually they would have the word spelled out.…

Another thing that I look at is that on that specific test I know that many other kids did bad on it, this is an honors class so it’s odd that so many kids did bad on a test. I’m not blaming the teacher but I also feel that it’s not my fault completely. I’m trying to ignore it and understand that there are bumps in the path to success that I have to overcome.…

The staccato pattern of Joe’s breathing traveled across the room to me and invaded my earl canals drilling into my brain making me even more irritated while I was trying to concentrate. Leaning my ear onto my propped up had, I tried to tap the eraser of my pencil between sentences on my desk in an attempt to drown out the atrocious noise; it was to no avail as his wheezing breaths danced across the room and continue its assault on my ears. The intense Irritation added even more stress from my everyday scholastic workload as the frustration built up and filled me until I could not hold it in any longer. I ended up yelling across the room, “ Do us all a favor and just stop breathing, Joe.” I regretted the words after they left my mouth; however, Joe was confident enough in himself that he took it in good stride and laughed it off along with the rest of the class.…

Examine just for a moment an average sized classroom of twenty-eight or so students; they are fidgeting, squirming, a tad rambunctious, undoubtedly bored, and most likely not retaining anything. Their grade does not matter. These could be third graders practicing their cursive. Or perhaps they are eleventh graders paraphrasing Shakespearean literature. The problem still stands, they are wasting their time.…

I walked into the classroom of my last class of the day expecting to just take notes and listen to a lecture. Unfortunately for me, the teacher announced that we were going to write a timed essay based on a chapter of a book we were reading. This task did not seem challenging at first, and the thirty minutes we were given to write our essays seemed like plenty of time. Nonetheless, I still managed to turn what was supposed to…

It was the second week of school junior year, in my third-period physics class. The bell rang shrilly, signaling the commencement of my own living hell. The teacher - a small, wiry man with a bit too much bite - sat in the back of the room. Grade book, and red pen in hand, he waited impatiently with a cold glare. The clock's ticking was loud in my ears and mixed with my rapid heartbeat.…
