Tau Delta Honor Society Research Paper

Decent Essays
As can be seen, I consider myself a great candidate for the Gamma Tau Delta Honor Society, and not only because of my academic achievements so far, but also because of my dedication to serve others in the community. I would like to end my essay with a quote by Mother Teresa: “We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do,” which to me is very accurate, because many times by just being there for a person, family, or community during a time of need can mean so much more to them, then what we actually think.

She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

I love doing service not because I am forced to, but I get to be with my friends and is also a way for me to give back to the community. I love helping the needy and have participated in countless activities. For example, I was a part of a group that put together care kits for the homeless, picked up trash at a park, and created blankets for the needy. Being in NJHS will give me a chance to find even more ways to do more service and become a leader.…

The Huffington Post posted an online news outlet survey by The Daily Beast that rated the “happiest colleges”. Texas A&M scored the highest possible score (10 being the highest ranking possible) for “Overall Student Experience”, 9.8 in the “Would You Do It Again” category and 9.2 for “Full-time Freshman Student Retention”. Texas A&M’s vice president for student affairs, Lt. Gen. Joe Weber (USMC-Ret,) offered the following observation in response to the survey: “Why is everyone so happy in Aggieland? I’d like to think that it’s because from the very beginning we all work to instill in our students the traditions and camaraderie—the Aggie Spirit—that have served us so well throughout our proud history. It all starts with the likes of Fish Camp…

The stressful, no-stop nature of life can consume our consciousness, preventing us from reaching out to help our fellow-man. There are often days I question what happened to kindness and humanity, but someone rises up and shows me that those qualities still are very much alive in our society. I was the fortunate recipient of such an act of kindness from a complete stranger who I will never forget. There were grey clouds in the sky, a chill in the air, and not a ray of sun, as I struggled to buckle my two-year old son Max into his car seat. A car had parked so close to me that I could barely open the door and squeeze myself in.…
