Tattoos Should Be Allowed In Employment Essay

Should judgement of tattoos on a person be allowed when trying to gain employment? Shouldn't an employer look at a person's skills, talents, and education, no looks. I strongly feel tattoos should not affect someone from gaining employment if the meet the job qualifications. Focusing on changing the way people view tattoos in the work force could be a positive movement for the younger generation. So many judgements are passed on people when it comes to employment, qualifications is all that should matter. The amount of people who have tattoos is going up like crazy. “ Over 20% of adults are now tattooed”(Kennedy). As the generation is getting older you are starting to see more tattoos and piercings. “This number only will be increasing because 38% of Millennials have tattoos, approximately half of whom have two or more, while 23% of millennials have body piercings” (Kennedy). “ In the Harris Interactive poll, 27% of the respondents without tattoos said folks with tattoos are less intelligent, and half said they’re more rebellious”(McMullen). I think that just because some people have tattoos and seem to be less intelligent or more rebellious doesn't mean that all people with tattoos are, even people without tattoos are less intelligent and can be more rebellious that tattoo doesn't determine your personality. “ In a 2011 CareerBuilder Poll, 31% of nearly 3,000 hiring managers said they would be less likely to promote someone with a visible tattoo, and 37% said the same for piercings”(McMullen). Just because you have a tattoo doesn’t mean you're not capable of doing the job that needs to be done, all a tattoo is, is a way a person could express their feelings or be able to put something on your body you like it doesn't mean you can't do the job the correct
