In the stories “Tattoos On the Heart” by George J, Boyle and “Stand and Deliver” by Jamie's Escalante change their lives around in order to help change the lives of Napoleon AKA (Sniper) and of Angel Guzman by feeling compassionate and willing to help In their lives. Feeling compassion means that of feeling sympathy for others suffering, therefore in the case of Boyle and Jamie's they first change their own lives around in order to change others. In the beginning of Boyle's life he grows up in a neighborhood with gang affiliations, getting into trouble until he goes to church one day, and hears about how jesus was compassionate to other people and the effects of how Jesus changed people’s life around. Boyle was interested in figuring out his full name so he asks around the priestess tells him his name is Gonzales therefore he walks onto gonzales and shakes his hand wanted to figure out his full name so thens he ask. As Gonzales replys his name is “Sniper “ Boyle felt kinda suspicious so he kept persuading him until he told him his full name was “ Napoleon Gonzales”. Boyle remembered a quote saying “ Beldon lane, the theologian, writes: “ divine love is incessantly restless until it turns all woundedness into health, all deformity into beauty and all embarrassment into laughter”(Boyle pg 43). Boyle had thought that Napoleon was shy and embarrassed of his real name that’d be the only reason why he’d be called “sniper”. Boyle then continues to talk napoleon until he becomes friendly with him that he gave him a nickname of “Napito” then forth he starts to laugh and boyle tells Napito to be proud of his name because his name is unique. Boyle was so compassionate to Napito of his embarrassment to his name that finally ends with laughter now. Equally important as Escalante helps a boy named Angel Guzman is who is a gang member in school and notices how the path he is in is the that of which is incorrect. Escalante tells Angel “ If you don't have ganas, I’ll give it to you because i'm an expert on it.” Angel then asks Escalante to lend him textbooks so that he can study and have
