I got those words engraved into my skin for my mother that passed away in 2007 and grandmother that passed away in 2011 after reading the poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost. Gold is a valuable chemical element with hue that is held to great stature, “Nothing gold can stay” as interpreted by me means that the things we value that are “gold” to us will not stay with forever whether it be physically or mentally. I also use my tattoo as a manta, meaning that even though gold is cherished the glaze will fade eventually and knowing this I can cherish the people I consider to be gold in my life, as they will to fade …show more content…
I believe they are addictive even with the pain connected; the healed end result is what makes people the happiest. Professionalism also needs to be kept in mind when contemplating on getting a tattoo; personally I have never seen an exposed tattoo on a dentist or doctor. It is more acceptable for average people to bear tattoos because it’s trendy however, a tatted doctor would get procrastinated against, one would second guess their ability to do work efficiently despite having an education and going through medical school to obtain a doctorate. Tattoos are a way for one to create individuality; they symbolize special events and obstacles that one person has experienced, when simply changing hairstyles isn’t enough. Tattoos will dominate in the future; there will be more tattooed grandparents telling their life story though their tattoos. I am for tattoos because nothing else screams commitment then something etched in your skin for eternity whether it is a regretted cripple unicorn or a tranquil koi fish, you will have that memory with you forever even if you alter it down the road you lived with it on your skin. Concluding, tattoos serve more purpose then they did 4000 BC, todays tattooed generation will dominate for year to come, we are here and we are going to continue to get
