The Tasmanian Tiger is also known as Tasmanian Wolf or simply Thylacine. The last one died at Hobart Zoo in 1936 and the species was officially declared as extinct in 1986. Tassie Tigers were secretive and nonterritorial creatures that avoided human contact, hunted at night and lead a typical feline lifestyle. With the arrival of Europeans in Tasmania started their long and painful journey to extinction. In 1888, the government introduced 1£ price for its head, leaving them at the mercy of bounty hunters and farmers. They live in groups of 2- 10 members called pods, active during the day and resting in slow waters at night. By spending a significant amount of time underwater hiding from humans, they are difficult to spot and very little is known about their behavior. Unlike other dolphins they have only one stomach with three chambers, females are bigger than males with eyes high up on the head. Sadly, another Japanese animal made the list. Only six months after being officially declared as extinct, on January 10, 2013, numerous eyewitnesses reported seeing the Japanese River Otter in Aichi Prefecture. Once so widespread than was even spotted in Tokyo, the river otter nearly vanished in the 1930s. A nocturnal and solitary creature, the otter would leave his den in search for food up to six hours because of competition. The female otter would have to give the male a permission for mating usually by rolling around with him which releases hormones. Baby otters are born blind and gain independence after 1 year of constant care and nursing by their mother. At one point, this animal was used for military purposes and to help cure
