Improving the Task Management Tool Process Each year, thousands of hours are lost due improper use of the Task Management Tool (TMT) process. Imagine the amount of time saved each day if TMT was utilized effectively. We would be able to focus more time and energy out on the flight line supporting real world combat, humanitarian, and support missions. The current TMT process has too many taskers with short suspenses which ultimately hinders daily operations. Proper TMT oversight, realistic suspenses, and appropriate access rights can alleviate the endless hours of managing the current process. First, the current TMT oversight by action officers will create a logjam at every level within the Wing. TMT is designed to consolidate tasks so …show more content…
As of now, only Wing-level action officers and secretaries have access to TMT. Although these individuals require access, other individuals within the organization should be granted access to see if certain tasks have been sitting longer than normal. If a higher organization does not take immediate action in the distribution of the tasks, the lower level organizations are stuck with the anticipation of guessing due dates. By granting TMT access to Master Sergeants and above or to personnel involved in the TMT process, they can immediately see where the log jam occurs as well as monitor suspenses in real-time. The need for access at the lower levels is paramount to timely task completion as well as administrative prioritization. Also, having those 5 – 10 tasks per day will be easier to adjust priorities in terms of most important to least important. Access rights to TMT will allow for follow up actions at every level, ensuring personnel are fully accountable for each task. The level of detail that is found in TMT will allow personnel to get a jump start on critical task which will help personnel focus on the daily missions.
