I went to go see Tartuffe which was in November 18th. So Mariane’s grandmother comes to her house to criticize the members of the home and to think highly of Tartuffe. He is a holy person. Her grandmother wants to join the two families together. Her father, Orgon, has been like put under the charm of Tartuffe. Damis is wondering if his father would let his sister marry Valere. Damis wants to marry Valere’s sister which he could not do if Mariane and Valere were to get married. Damis asks his uncle to see if his father will keep the promise he made to his sister about marring Valere. Orgon goes to see Tartuffe when he should be worrying about his wife’s illness. Cleante tried to talk to Orgon about Tartuffe but did not succeed because Orgon only wanted to join the two homes together. When he asked Orgon about Mariane marrying Valere he dodged answering the question and decided that he wants Tartuffe to marry Mariane. Then Valere stops by and blames Mariane for not refusing to marry Tartuffe. After they were done fighting Dorine agrees to help them reveal Tartuffe to be the sleazebag that he is. Damis is going to do the same thing that his sister and the maid are going to do but then he hears Tartuffe coming and hides in the closet. Then he heard Tartuffe telling his mom that he loved her. He tries to tell his father about what had just happened and his father disowns him. Orgon wants Tartuffe to be his son-in-law. Cleante goes to Tartuffe to try and reason with him about marrying his niece. But Tartuffe does not listen because of his religious beliefs. Orgon and Elmire show up and she goes and watches every move that Tartuffe says and does after she makes a fake promise to her husband about Tartuffe.
