Ambassador Program Shift Supervisor Cristina Fraker spearheaded the effort. She said it was something she became more passionate about after meeting a Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) representative during a volunteer management conference where she heard about the work that they do.
The TAFB distributes fresh, frozen and nonperishable food items to the hungry and needy of the community through donations. The food industry, food drives and local volunteer organizations contribute to those donations. Food Bank volunteers sort, package and send the donated items off to their network of partner agencies who serve children, the elderly, people experiencing homelessness and other Texans in need. …show more content…
“More than half of Ambassadors are elderly and on a fixed income so that’s when it hit home and sprung the idea of getting involved.”
Airport Ambassadors are often on the front lines when it comes to Customer Experience. They are constantly interacting with traveling customers, directing them to their connecting flights and making suggestions to visit various Airport amenities DFW offers.
They do all of that and a lot more, voluntarily.
“They are donating more than their time and effort as Airport Ambassadors, but contributing to a great need, out of the kindness of their hearts, for one of our local communities through this food drive,” said Fraker. “It definitely shows the true spirit of a volunteer and goes to show that every bit does
