Target Diversity Advertisement Analysis

Decent Essays
 I choose this ad because Target did a really good job on delivering the message of diversity via this ad. The ad is good because Target used hundreds of photos to pull the ad together and form its signature logo. If we look carefully, we can find that every person in the photo is different. These people may from different countries, races, and have different religions. The slogan and the body copy also related to diversity. By incorporating these aspects in this ad, Target demonstrates the concept of diversity to its audience.

There are so many advertisements that are advertised throughout the day, whether it is on Pandora, YouTube, or TV there is one advertisement I cannot escape. The ad is the Covergirl So Lashy Blast Pro Mascara, which is not only selling mascara but promoting equality. For that reason this ad is an example of postmodernism. According to the book postmodernism is define in many different ways but the book focuses on four major features and value which are populism, diversity, nostalgia, and paradox. Also according to the video “postmodernism is a skeptical playful response to an establish concept.”…

The Onion poked fun at the ways in which products are marketed at consumers using satire. The MagnaSoles article references false logos such as pseudoscience as well other nonscientific terms and concepts to advertise their product. The article also uses faulty logic to try and convince readers that MagnaSoles are great products to buy. Through these strategies, The Onion is implying that other products are marketed ridiculously to consumers. This MagnaSoles advertisement does not put its best foot forward with all of the false logos.…

This ad attains a sort of masculine feel without excluding the female audience; it achieves a sense of gender neutrality. The ad targets people of all ages and backgrounds due to its use of male and female senior citizens from different ethnicities. Dodge does not specifically establish a targeted demographic, but I believe this is intentional at an attempt to reach a wider audience. Dodge’s ad uses the elderly’s portrayal and the rebellious tone of the ad to effectively create a message that grabs the attention of the younger and older demographic of Americans watching the advertisement. Dodge’s ad has received generally favorable reviews by critics and audiences around the country.…

This 2016 print advertisement from the London based financial information company taps into the need of people for leisure and calls them to thoughtful action about investments through pathos, logos and irony. The at first glance simple arrangement of a sentence fragment and clock parts creates a competition between money and time to entice adult readers new to the investment world to use the company for financial advice; cultured and expected responses are used in a negative light to engender trust and curiosity about the service. Why did this company invoke a competition between money and time to lure its audience? The ad speaks to resilient cultural constructions, keenly known to new adults, of a good life as consisting of two discrete and paradoxical categories, at once opposed and unified; the money made and time spent making it; and of all relations between the two as an inherent psychological battle for dominance in the observer’s brain. The ad employs a visually competitive framework when not folded out to indirectly prime the reader’s mind to address these underlying tensions.…

Plan B One-Step is intended for women who accidentally become pregnant and do not want to follow through with their pregnancy. The drug advertisement for Plan B One-Step displays what looks to be a content, White middle class young woman. In Western society White women are seen as intelligent women who can afford to purchase medication and have the credentials to decide whether or not they should buy it (Fidell & Prather, 1975, p. 23). This might be the reason a woman of colour is not shown in the ad. Black women are portrayed as poor, uneducated, and reckless individuals compared to their White-skinned counterparts (Glenn, 2009, p. 232).…

Verizon has numerous advertisements that demonstrate card stacking propaganda. They over-exaggerate how much their coverage is spread across the United States compared to other cell phone companies. In this one advertisement, two maps of the United States are portrayed. One shows the amount of coverage from Verizon, which takes up almost the whole entire map, and the other presents AT&T, but it only covers remarkably minute scopes of the map. The rest of the map is blank.…

The claim of this ad is that America would be safe and secure if Donald Trump were elected president. The evidence is that Donald Trump would build a stronger military and would make changes necessary to make America Safe.
