Product and Price The Target Corporation strives to provide the customer with an exceptional shopping experience by consistently providing quality discount goods and services. All stores sell general merchandise – items that a shopper would use on a daily basis, such as toiletries, cleaning supplies, various electronics, and clothing, food, and services such as photography, eye care, pharmacy, and clinical. There are currently four different styles of stores, general Target, Super Target, CityTarget, and Target Express. General Target stores offer affordable pricing for everyday commodities and services, as well as a modified selection of grocery items. Super Target offers everything that the traditional Target provides in addition to a full-service grocery store. This format provides one stop shopping for the busy consumer. CityTarget and Target Express are smaller stores, located in urban areas that focus on the needs of city-dwellers (https://corporate.target.com/about/shopping-experience).
Other forms of distribution include Target.com for online shoppers and the Target mobile app for iPad, iPhone, and Android. Target.com offers a wider range of products than found in stores, as well as online exclusives. Target’s dedication to community involvement and philanthropy keeps the business in the public eye and on the minds of local residents. Furthermore, the focus on quality of product and shopping experience has allowed the company to remain the second largest grossing discount retailer in America. However, weaknesses in the area of security, lawsuits, lack of international presence, and pricing exist. Target will have to increase the security of customer information. The company is currently dealing with several lawsuits pertaining to a breach of their financial system in 2013 where hackers stole data from over 30 million accounts. Also, Target recently closed 133 stores in Canada, and has yet to establish its self in any foreign market, outside of India. Also, Target has very high quality standards and emphasizes value at a discount but does not promise the lowest
