People, past and present- Target child is emerging in this skill set. Z does not identify similarities and differences in personal and family characteristics consistently. In Z’s self-portrait, Z did not coincide the colors of his hair, clothes, and eyes with his portrait. Z also does not make verbal comments about the shades of each person’s skin. Z is demonstrating a beginning awareness of community, city and state. During various ‘themed’ weeks revolving around famous historical figures, Z can be found dressing up as these figures, or drawing pictures of them during free time.
Human interdependence- Target child is emerging in this skill set. Z is beginning to understand family needs, roles, and relationships. Z will often illustrates pictures of his family during free time. Z also identifies some people’s jobs and what is required to perform them. For example, during dramatic play, Z will use fake money to pay for food/objects in the store. In addition, Z will also use props like uniforms, bags, doctor gear, and chef hats to role-play as during dramatic play. Z is not yet aware of how technology affects his life.

Z is able to more with increase balance and control. In gym class, Z demonstrates his developing mastery in running skills during the game red light green light. Z demonstrated he could do quick stops and starts in this game. Z also moves with ease through the classroom’s narrow paths. I have yet to see Z knock any object down in these tight paths. Z also coordinates combined patterns to perform simple tasks. For example, Z can throw a ball with accuracy and sometime catch a ball being thrown to him.
