It appears that Kai, does like attention from his teacher, as it was observed when he is not chosen first to answer a question, he said ‘all man”! He desired to answer the questions, which mean he does like the attention from his teachers. Motivational/BIP Plan
Kai needs to be given behavior specific praise whenever he is not exhibiting the target behaviors, “catch him being good”! Ex. Kai, I like the way you are following the teachers directions, you earned a sticker, Kai, thank you for keeping your hands and feet to yourself. (Not hitting anyone, of kicking).

If he earns all six stickers he has the opportunity at the end of the day to go to Mr. A’s class for (15) minutes, since this has been determined to be the highest incentive for him. He could also earn 15 minutes on the IPAD or computer if Mr. A.’s class is not an option for the day. He should have the option to choose which incentive he would like to earn, therefore first thing in the morning review his behavior chart, find out which activity or item he wants to earn, and have his sticker chart ready for him to beginning earning.
If Kai exhibits the target behaviors, he should be asked to sit in the “Do nothing Chair for 3-5 minutes until he is calm and ready to be compliant. If his behavior is impeding on the classroom environment, utilize another environment outside of the classroom to allow him the opportunity to calm down. An immediate intervention that could be used to mitigate Joey’s disruptive behavior is to establish a reward system. Joey’s disruptive behavior is motivated by a need for adult attention that manifests in the form of talking out of turn, loudly and off topic. The antecedents include: interrupting when the teacher gives attention to his classmates, talking louder if he feels he is being ignored, and off topic outbursts when he is disengaged or bored. Since this behavior persists all throughout the day, a reward system that focuses on reducing the frequency of his behavior would be most successful. The potential to spend one-on-one time with the teacher would be a reward that would eliminate the antecedents of this behavior, facilitate his need for adult attention, and have intrinsic value to Joey so that he is motivated to self-monitor his behavior.…

In other words, I feel like his behaviors is more covered with of emptiness and inappropriate behaviors, so learning with reinforcements seems better to eliminate those unwanted behaviors. For instance, to increase his appropriate behavior with positive reinforcement, we can give him candies or desserts whenever he speaks and participates in class (not only to the teacher but also when they are doing group work with his friends), or even providing pizza parties when he obtains more than 20 candies or shows more effort on participating. For another example, we can give an “A” or an award on any of the classes he’s doing good at. Let’s say he is still smart in math, giving him an “A” or an award will bring at least one positive behavior towards him when he walks into his math…

Such evidence-based classroom practices as compiled in the Effective Classroom PBS Plan include creating a classroom community, maximizing structure and predictability, posting and teaching expectations, and using a continuum of strategies to acknowledge appropriate or inappropriate behavior some of which may be proactive or reactive. Teachers who are not empowering the students are likely engaged in practices that are ineffective resulting in the opposite effect of disempowerment.
