Operational Definition: When engaging in avoidance behavior the behavior looks like wandering around the classroom, talks to peers by asking questions that are not related to the given assignment, walks to the classroom teacher to engage in conversation, and begins to play with objects around that do not pertain to the given assignment.
Token Board:
• The token board is designed for Richard to receive 5 stars in a 10 minute time frame. He will also have the opportunity to receive 5 additional stars when he has succeeded being on task for a longer time period. Reactive Procedures: when the target behavior is occurring
• When student does not receive all 5 starts, teacher will select the options.
• When Richard becomes begins to engage in avoidance behavior state the following: o Oh man, Richard you were so close to get your star let work a little bit harder. o Good job you were able to stay on task for _____ seconds so close buddy. o You have ____ stars good job, lets work harder to get the others.
Avoid when using token chart with student:
• Constantly remind the student of the starts.
• Telling the student what he is doing incorrectly multiple times.
• Using negative words when student is engaging in target behavior.
• Raising voice when student is avoiding class assignment.
Star Reward System:
• 6 or more stars: Can select any of his option plus and the extra reward will be teachers choice
• 5 stars: Student can select any item from the menu.
• 4-3 stars: only 2 options to select from, the teacher will remove one of the options
• 2-1 stars: only 1 option to select from, the teacher decided which reinforce student will
