"60-70% of bottled water is not tested" (Waterloo Water Works). That means the one bottle of water that you drank today was probably not tested. On the other hand tap water is tested 2-3 times a day. Bottled water is worse than tap water because it's bad for the environment, costs more, and is unsafe to drink. Bottled water is bad for the environment. First of all, "it takes over 1,000 years to bio de-grade a water bottle (Bottle Water Is Wasteful). In 1,000 years the water bottle will finally be decomposed. If you drink tap water you can buy a reusable bottle and it's a way to save money & the environment. Lastly you may think recycling helps but you can only recycle PET water bottles all of the other water bottles are discarded. Only …show more content…
According to the Walmart website, Aquafina costs $3.30, Desani cost $1.57, Nestle cost $1.18, and Great Value costs $0.72 per gallon. On the other hand, tap water is only 0.008575 which is not even a penny. Also there is more volume in tap water than there is in any of the other bottled water. Tap water has a volume measurement of 6000oz and the others are between 405.6- 648.96oz. Tap water is safer than bottled water. Bottled water is unsafe to drink because most of the time 60-70% of the water is not tested(Waterloo Water Works). While tap water is tested 80% of the time which is 2-3 times a day(Waterloo Water Works). Although people think bottle water taste better it's not but it is better than a sugary soda. We consumed over eight billion gallons of bottled water in 2006 a 10 percent increase from 2005 (Bottled Water Vs. Tap Water). Now you see why tap water is better than bottle water in a majority of ways. In conclusion, tap water is better that bottled water. As you can see the cost of bottled water is very expensive compared to tap water. Bottled water is unsafe because it's not tested as often as tap water which is tested 2-3 times a day. Bottled water is also not environmentally safe because it takes 1,000 years to bio de-grade in the landfill. That's why tap water is better than bottled
