Water is the most precious liquid that exists in the world because is a key element in many of the things that we do such as cooking, cleaning, gardening among many others. Most importantly, water is essential to humans’ life, since our body is composed mainly of water. Drinking water brings a lot of positive health benefits that improve people’s lifespan. The most interesting thing about this precious liquid is that is free to drink in many public places like parks and schools. At home, this liquid comes with a price at a very low cost because of the process to keep it clean and suitable for human consumption. In the United States, tap water is driven by each state that is in charge to guarantee clean water to people. Water also comes bottled but unlike tap water, bottled water is sold by the private sector. Compared to bottled water, tap water is a lot cheaper even when paying for it. If people want to pay for something 10,000 times more expensive is not the issue either. The real concern is the plastic that takes more than three centuries to degrade which makes it environmental unfriendly and the toxins that humans develop in their bloodstream for drinking liquids in a plastic bottle. The real problem is the humans because they haven’t taken the necessary steps to avoid using plastic for consumer products. Even when removing the bottled water to replace it with tap water, people ended up buying more soft drinks. “With the removal of bottled water, consumers increased their consumption of less healthy bottled beverages” (Berman 2015). The best solution is to find a way to educate people about tap water and why is a better choice than any plastic beverage.
